Family Encouragement Challenge

By: Ben Glassman
Rachel Fischl

Theme Verse:
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up..." — 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Challenge Instructions

Gather your family together in a circle or around the table (a shared meal time would be a great time to do this). Take turns going around until every person has both given and received encouragement. This could be completed all at one time or done over multiple days by selecting one person to focus on each day.

For each family member:

  1. Say their name and look them in the eye.
  2. Share one thing you appreciate about them or something you have seen them grow in lately.
  3. Mention a character quality you see in them or see them working towards.
  4. End with prayer/blessing for that person.

*Adapt as needed to fit the ages of your children.*

Example:
"Grace, I appreciate how kind you have been to your younger brother lately. I see a caring heart growing in you. My prayer is that God continues to help you grow in confidence and joy."

Bonus Challenge

After everyone has shared, have each person answer:

  • What encouragement meant the most to you today?
  • How can our family continue encouraging one another this week?

Family Prayer

"Lord, thank You for each person in our family. Help us use our words to build one another up, show Your love, and encourage one another every day. May our home be filled with kindness, gratitude, and grace. In Jesus' name, Amen."
